ReNew recently launched a 400 MW solar project in the Rajasthan region.
This development is part of a 600 MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
Located on 2,000 acres in the Pokran and Bhaniyana tehsils of Jaisalmer district, the project is expected to generate around 1,331 million units of electricity per year.
The PPA tariff is set at Rs 2.18/kWh, offering a competitive energy solution for the region.

Environmental and social impact

The project aims to reduce around 1.4 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, making a significant contribution to environmental sustainability.
At the same time, ReNew is carrying out various water conservation initiatives in water-scarce districts such as Jaisalmer, providing water to over 700 underprivileged families.
Construction of the project has also generated jobs and will continue to do so during the operational phase, benefiting local communities through long-term land lease agreements.

ReNew’s commitment and prospects

Sumant Sinha, Founder, Chairman and CEO of ReNew, expressed his pride at the rapid completion of the project, which will be able to power 300,000 homes.
Currently, 4000 MW of ReNew’s approximately 10 GW gross operating capacity is located in Rajasthan, with investments of over Rs 21,000 crores.
ReNew plans to increase its portfolio beyond 10 GW in the coming years, reaffirming its commitment to the state’s energy development.

Connecting and using Solar Modules

The project is connected to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited’s (RVPNL) Jaisalmer-II (Bhensara), making it the largest solar project connected to RVPNL.
SECI has also signed a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) for the same duration.
The solar modules used for this project are manufactured by ReNew in Jaipur, aligning this initiative with the Indian government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan campaign.
ReNew continues to position itself as a key player in India’s energy transition, with initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and promoting energy independence through innovative and sustainable projects.
