GreenYellow, a company active in decentralised energy solutions, has entered into a partnership with Dupol Next, a manufacturer of flexible packaging, to implement a solar plant on the rooftop of its production site in Zanica, located in the Bergamo province. The installation, with a capacity of 700 kilowatt-peak (kWp), will be entirely dedicated to on-site electricity consumption.
Estimated annual output of 800 MWh
The project is expected to generate approximately 800 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually, covering 18% of the industrial site’s energy consumption. The financing model excludes any initial investment from the client. The plant will be installed and operated by GreenYellow under a turnkey agreement that also includes full roof refurbishment and retrofit of medium-voltage substations.
Founded in 2024, GreenYellow Italy has developed an integrated approach combining engineering, financing, construction, and operation of solar projects, storage systems, and electrification infrastructure. The company announced a €100mn ($106.5mn) investment plan over three years to strengthen its presence in the Italian decentralised energy market.
Capex-free model for industrial clients
This model is based on 100% financing by GreenYellow, allowing industrial clients to adopt energy solutions without impacting their cash flow. The aim is to enhance supply security while controlling energy-related costs. The Zanica project aligns with this strategy, focusing on installations located directly at industrial sites to reduce losses and increase energy autonomy.
The solar power plant in Zanica adds to GreenYellow’s growing portfolio in Italy, following several projects in the agri-food and manufacturing sectors. The agreement with Dupol Next reflects the increasing interest among Italian industrial players in self-consumption models with no upfront investment, amid continued electricity price volatility.
Development prospects in the Italian market
With this project, GreenYellow continues expanding its operations in Italy, where demand for industrial solar solutions is steadily increasing. The company is targeting high-energy consumption businesses seeking to diversify their energy sources without increasing capital expenditures.
“This project represents a concrete step in Dupol Next’s decarbonisation journey and confirms our commitment to supporting industrial players in their energy transition while reducing their dependence on the electrical grid,” said Pierre Marouby, Managing Director of GreenYellow Italy.
