Semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics has signed a Physical Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with solar energy producer TSE to power its sites in France using electricity generated by solar parks operated by TSE. The 15-year contract, set to begin in 2027, covers a total volume of approximately 780 GWh.

A large-scale contract to supply French operations

The agreement is based on the output of three solar parks located in France, with a combined capacity of around 43 megawatts. The electricity will supply STMicroelectronics’ local operations, including integrated circuit manufacturing, as well as research, design, sales and marketing activities. This marks the company’s second such agreement in France.

STMicroelectronics has already signed similar partnerships in Italy, Malaysia and Morocco, aiming to increase the share of renewable energy in its global supply. The company has announced its target to rely entirely on renewable energy by 2027 as part of its strategy to reduce operational emissions.

A new step for TSE in industrial PPAs

TSE, active in the agrivoltaics segment and large-scale solar projects, is strengthening its presence among French industrial groups with this agreement. The company has already concluded similar deals with firms such as BioMérieux, Les Mousquetaires, Agrial and Albéa.

According to TSE, this new contract reflects growing industrial demand for low-carbon and local energy solutions. The company intends to continue developing key solar projects targeted at the manufacturing sector.
