German energy group RWE has secured two projects with a total capacity of 21.6 megawatts (MW) in the tenth onshore wind tender organised by the Commission de régulation de l’énergie (CRE). The wind farms, located in the departments of Oise and Morbihan, are fully owned by RWE and each comprise three turbines, with an individual capacity of 10.8 MW.
A competitive tender awarding 952.8 MW
The procedure was part of the tenth period of the French Multiannual Energy Programme (Programmation pluriannuelle de l’énergie, PPE2), with a called capacity of 925 MW. Over 90 projects were submitted, and only 42 were selected, totalling 952.8 MW at an average tariff of €86.6/MWh. RWE’s two winning projects, the Balinot park in Oise and Langonnet in Morbihan, will supply electricity to over 15,000 households.
These results reflect RWE’s growing foothold in the French market, with a strategy focused on targeted regional deployment. The success of these projects aligns with the group’s expansion plan across the territory, supported by a pipeline of assets under development in several regions.
Consolidated investments in renewables
In 2025, RWE commissioned over 83 MW of combined wind and solar capacity in France. The cumulative results of the 2024 and 2025 CRE tenders bring the group’s secured wind capacity to 172.6 MW, along with 23.1 MWp in solar.
Active in France since 2020, RWE holds a pipeline of around 1.6 gigawatts (GW) of onshore wind projects and 1 GWp of solar projects at various development stages. Out of these, 408 MW have been awarded contracts through tenders, and 275 MW are already operational. The group continues to consolidate its position amid strong competition in the French renewable energy sector.
