MondialBox Saint-Nazaire inaugurates 4,500 m² of photovoltaic canopies with ActiSun

MondialBox Saint-Nazaire deploys 2,300 photovoltaic panels covering 4,500 m², annually generating 800 MWh of decarbonized energy, in partnership with SeeYouSun and Sonadev, via ActiSun, a program dedicated to solarizing industrial and commercial spaces.

MondialBox Saint-Nazaire, a specialist in self-storage drive facilities, inaugurated a major photovoltaic installation consisting of 2,300 solar panels spread over 4,500 square metres of canopies. This project is the result of cooperation with SeeYouSun, a specialist in photovoltaic solutions, and the Société Nazairienne de Développement (Sonadev), a local entity involved in urban and energy-related territorial development, through their joint initiative ActiSun. This installation enables MondialBox to annually produce an estimated 800 megawatt-hours (MWh), equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 470 inhabitants. This represents the first franchised company within the MondialBox group to opt for significant solar infrastructure.

Optimization of industrial spaces

The photovoltaic plant, with a power of 810 kilowatt-peak (kWp), fully covers outdoor spaces used for storage and customer reception at the Saint-Nazaire site. The installation was specifically designed to optimize available space, precisely integrating between existing rows of storage boxes, thus facilitating user circulation. The tailored design of the canopies provides increased comfort to customers, effectively protecting them from weather conditions while preserving optimal fluidity of movement throughout the site.

The investment in this solar infrastructure follows a financial model known as third-party investment, entirely managed by SeeYouSun and Sonadev. This approach allows local businesses to benefit from energy infrastructure without direct initial financing, optimizing surfaces that are already developed.

Development of the ActiSun programme

ActiSun is a programme jointly initiated by SeeYouSun and Sonadev, designed to support businesses in the Saint-Nazaire region in developing industrial and commercial solar installations. Since its inception, ActiSun has already commissioned a plant on the roof of a business village in the Brais activity park. Additional similar solar projects are planned, with the stated objective of installing up to five megawatts-peak (MWp) of total photovoltaic capacity, representing an investment of approximately 3,400,000 euros over three years.

François Guérin, president of SeeYouSun, notes: “This unique achievement demonstrates our ability to tackle complex technical challenges on large industrial spaces.” For his part, Eric Provost, president of Sonadev, emphasizes that “this project provides further proof of our commitment to local businesses, offering them an expanded range of adapted energy solutions.”
