Chinese group Envision Energy has announced the signing of an exclusivity agreement with Turkish company Mensis Enerji for the joint development of an initial 4.5 GW portfolio of wind power projects with integrated storage solutions. The agreement was unveiled during the Turkish Wind Energy Congress, highlighting the growing ambition of both companies to strengthen their long-term technological and industrial cooperation.
The collaboration is based on the complementarity of the two partners: Envision Energy, a global supplier of renewable energy technologies, will bring its expertise in turbine manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and grid integration, while Mensis Enerji will contribute with its market knowledge and regulatory experience. The two companies aim for the rapid deployment of large-scale projects aligned with Turkey’s 2035 energy targets.
A long-term strategic partnership
The agreement includes the development of an integrated wind energy ecosystem combining generation, storage, and digital optimisation. Envision Energy will provide its digital platforms and energy optimisation solutions, already deployed in other emerging markets. This initiative aims to secure long-term investments and improve the operational efficiency of wind projects across Turkey.
According to official data, Turkey’s installed wind capacity currently exceeds 13 GW. The country plans to reach nearly 18 GW of wind-storage integrated projects in the coming years. This strategic partnership would enable Mensis Enerji to access an international supply chain while promoting local industrialisation, notably through component manufacturing and workforce training.
Industrial footprint in a changing market
The companies have not specified the exact timeline for the implementation of the initial projects, but the signed contractual framework grants Envision Energy exclusive rights over Mensis Enerji’s wind developments during the initial phase. This approach aims to secure manufacturing and logistics capacity in a tight market while limiting supply risks.
Abdullah Atalay, Chairman of Mensis Enerji, stated that this alliance represents a “structuring step for the sector”, noting that the combination of imported technology and local execution will attract more capital to bankable certified projects. Kane Xu, Executive Vice President of Envision Energy, confirmed that Turkey represents a “strategic” market for the group.
