Canadian company Condor Energies Inc. announced it has reached total depth on its first horizontal well in the Andakli field, located in Uzbekistan. This operation marks a technical milestone in its regional expansion strategy, supported by investments aimed at rapidly increasing production capacity in targeted reservoirs.
Technical breakthrough on the Andakli-23 horizontal well
The Andakli-23 well reached a total depth of 3,775 metres, including a 1,007-metre open-hole horizontal section in a Jurassic carbonate reservoir. The completion string was installed using the drilling rig, and initial flows of gas and drilling fluids were observed at surface. A service rig will perform flow testing once the drilling rig is removed, with production expected in December. A second horizontal well will be drilled from the same pad, targeting a different carbonate reservoir currently being exploited through vertical wells. This reservoir is considered gas-bearing based on measurements from the initial vertical pilot well.
Successful recompletions in the North Syuzma field
During drilling of Andakli-23, a vertical pilot hole penetrated a deep Jurassic clastic sequence, allowing for wireline logging. In zone XVIII-1, reservoirs with porosity ranging from 9 to 13% were identified. Based on this, two wells in the neighbouring North Syuzma field were successfully recompleted. The North Syuzma-01 well demonstrated a gas flow rate between 7.6 and 11.4 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) and tubing pressures ranging from 934 to 1,643 psi, with light condensate between 58 and 66 barrels per day (b/d).
Immediate impact on daily production
Following the initial success, a second recompletion was carried out in the North Syuzma-12 well, targeting the same zone. Wireline log interpretation revealed 2.1 metres of net gas pay across two porous intervals with 17% average porosity. Multi-rate testing showed gas flows between 4.0 and 6.6 MMscf/d and tubing pressures from 1,351 to 1,735 psi. Condensate ranged from 12 to 20 b/d, and water volumes, between 291 and 609 barrels per day, were interpreted as residual drilling fluids to be recovered.
Combined production of gas and condensate reached 11,844 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) over the past three days, up from 9,978 boepd in the third quarter of 2025. Condor plans to invest in drilling up to 12 new wells in 2026, targeting geologically repeatable zones such as the Jurassic sands identified during recent operations.
