Lagoa dos Ventos, sees the beginning of the construction of the second extension of the wind farm of Enel Green Power. Considered the largest wind farm in the territory, it will have a total capacity of 1.5GW.

A colossal project

Lagoa dos Ventos is located in the municipality of Dom Inocêncio. Enel Green Power’s Brazilian branch is investing about 2.5 billion Brazilian reais in construction. Bruno Riga, head of Enel Green Power in Brazil, says:

“Since we started the construction of the first stage of Lagoa dos Ventos in 2019, we knew it was a milestone for the Enel Group and a new reference in terms of the scale of renewable projects in the Brazilian power sector. We are proud to now begin the construction of the second extension of the complex, which consolidates Lagoa dos Ventos as a wind power giant. “

Once operational, Lagoa dos Ventos will reach 1.5GW of installed capacity. Composed of 70 wind turbines, it will be able to produce 1.670GW per year. Once in place, the park will have 372 wind turbines and will avoid the emission of 3.6 million tons of CO2.

A sustainable construction site

The scale of the Lagoa dos Ventos project in South America requires innovative arrangements. Enel Green Power will use drones to conduct surveys. Software solutions will remotely control activities on the construction sites.

All its innovations are part of the “sustainable construction site” model promoted by the company. Indeed, Enel is committed to implementing actions aimed at saving water and improving the efficiency of lighting. In addition, more than 75 environmental, citizenship and health education projects are being developed for 80,000 beneficiaries.
