A total of 1342 MW of wind energy capacity has been secured through new contracts involving Vestas in Europe, the United States, and Africa. These orders underline the critical role of wind energy in global decarbonization strategies and highlight significant business opportunities in the sector.

Key Developments in Europe

In Italy, the Valico Casone Cocca project, awarded to Alerion San Marco and supported by Vestas turbines, adds 26 MW to the national grid. Spain and France contribute significantly to the European wind capacity expansion, with projects totaling 50 MW and 145 MW respectively. These installations utilize a mix of Vestas’ V150-4.5 MW, V136-3.45 MW, and V126-3.45 MW turbines, optimized for varied site conditions.

Significant Gains in the United States

The United States accounts for the largest share of these orders, with two projects totaling 636 MW. A 203 MW project, leveraging V163-4.5 MW turbines, and a 270 MW project developed by Steelhead Americas, Vestas’ development subsidiary, will strengthen the renewable energy landscape in key regions.

Strategic Expansion in Africa and Latin America

In Africa, Vestas has secured a 95 MW project in South Africa, supported by a 20-year Active Output Management (AOM 5000) service agreement. Meanwhile, in Latin America, Guatemala adds 63 MW of new capacity through a project featuring V150-4.5 MW turbines, further diversifying Vestas’ global footprint.

Business Implications

All projects are backed by long-term service agreements to ensure optimal performance and reliability. These contracts, including AOM models of up to 25 years, highlight the increasing emphasis on operational excellence in renewable energy projects. By delivering these projects, Vestas supports local economic growth through infrastructure investment and job creation.
