AB “Ignitis grupė” has announced that the Mažeikiai wind farm, controlled by its subsidiary UAB Ignitis Renewables, has reached its commercial commissioning date of August 16, 2023, following the transfer of legal responsibility for the wind turbines from supplier Nordex Energy SE & Co KG. This is the first onshore wind farm built entirely by the Group in Lithuania.

Commissioning of the Mažeikiai wind farm :

The Mažeikiai wind farm, with a total capacity of 63 MW and 14 wind turbines of 4.5 MW each, is now operational. Located in the Židikų district of the municipality of Mažeikiai, Lithuania, it will supply over 50,000 homes with clean renewable energy.

Full functionality and future support :

Although 13 out of 14 wind turbines are operational, one of them will see its legal responsibility transferred in September 2023 due to additional work required. Nevertheless, the Mažeikiai wind farm is in full operation. In addition, the Green Generation Group’s installed green energy capacity has increased from 1.2 GW to 1.3 GW since the wind farm was commissioned.

Green growth objective :

In line with its strategy, the Group aims to increase its green energy production capacity from 4 to 5 GW by 2030. This growth is part of a drive to strengthen green energy generation, with a commitment to sustainable development.
