BW Ideol partners with Taiya Renewable Energy for pilot and commercial scale projects in Taiwan in a challenging environment.

BW Ideol and Taiya join forces in offshore wind energy

BW Ideol partners with Taiya Renewable Energy to develop wind power in Taiwan. The agreement provides for the joint development of floating offshore wind projects. In addition, the partnership includes a 50 MW floating wind turbine pilot project.

BW Ideol has been awarded the exclusive contract for the design, engineering, construction and installation of the floating foundations. The project is based on the Damping Pool technology. COD is expected to arrive before the end of 2026 and construction is expected to begin as early as 2025.

The agreement between BW Ideol and Taiya Renewable Energy also covers the joint development of several commercial-scale projects. Environmental impact assessment efforts are underway. This ensures timely qualification at the time of the official tender launch.

A growth strategy

Taiya Renewable Energy has a strong local presence. Thus, the company has know-how with local actors. For its part, BW Ideol is developing its growth thanks to offshore wind energy, as well as its presence in Asia. Moreover, Paul de la Guérivière, CEO of BW Ideol, comments:

“We are pleased to continue to grow our global project pipeline in line with our two-pronged strategy as a co-developer and provider of technology and EPCI services.”

BW Ideol is a fully integrated platform in the field of floating offshore wind. The company has over 12 years of experience in the design, execution and development of floating wind projects. The company develops projects based on its patented offshore wind technology.

The company is focusing on a two-tiered growth strategy. First, as a provider of maintenance services and floating EPCIs. In addition, it is positioned as a developer and co-owner of wind farm projects in France and Japan.

An ambitious partnership

Taiya Renewable Energy is a renewable energy company involved in the development and design of wind farms. It also operates in the fields of engineering, construction, operation and maintenance. In addition, the company is involved in the asset management of offshore wind farms.

Taiya Renewable Energy entered into a partnership with EDF Renewables. The company will thus participate jointly in the next auction in Taiwan. Thus, the company aims to develop the Huan-Yang fixed bottom offshore wind turbine project.

The company strives to use advanced international technology. The goal is to create local synergy and explore international collaboration. In addition, Taiya Renewable Energy has experience in project financing and permitting.
