The Teschendorf wind farm in the Gifhorn district is the culmination of almost ten years of planning. The Regional Association of Greater Braunschweig (RGB) oversaw the regional planning, a process which took a further two years to develop. This preliminary work was essential in order to comply with regional planning and land-use requirements, the sine qua non for launching the approval procedure.
Administrative and regulatory complexities delayed the start of work. However, after obtaining approval within nine months, Energiequelle was able to begin the first stages of construction. The French company continues to invest abroad, not only in Germany but also in Greece, where it has opened a branch.

Work in progress

Construction of access roads to the site is currently underway. The turbine foundations will be laid from January 2025. The project involves the installation of five Enercon E-138 turbines, each with a capacity of 4.2 MW and a hub height of 130 meters. Once operational, these turbines should generate around 60 million kWh per year, enough to power around 17,000 homes.
Full commissioning is scheduled for October 2025. This project, with its significant investment in infrastructure and technology, aims to increase the region’s renewable energy production capacity.

Management and Financial Perspectives

Energiequelle GmbH will be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the wind farm. Technical management includes regular turbine maintenance and performance monitoring to ensure optimum production. Commercial management includes selling the electricity produced and managing contracts.
The expected annual yield of 60 million kWh represents a stable source of income for the company and its investors. The total capacity of 21 MW is in line with the broader objectives of diversifying and securing the region’s energy supply.
