Ethical Power opens Conrad Energy’s first solar farm

Ethical Power has begun work on the 45 MW Larport solar farm, developed and owned by Conrad Energy, which is expected to generate approximately 44,000 MWh per year and provide a significant biodiversity gain for the region.

International solar PV project developer, builder and operator Ethical Power has started work on the 45 MW Larport solar farm in Herefordshire, UK, developed and owned by Conrad Energy.

Significant gain in biodiversity

Conrad Energy is the largest flexible energy producer in the UK and Larport Solar Farm is the first solar farm project they have developed. As the EPC contractor, Ethical Power performed the final due diligence on the project, including design optimization and engineering review.

The 120-acre project area will cover the solar farm and a significant portion of the land dedicated to biodiversity enhancement, including natural grasslands and wildflower meadows. The project is expected to provide a significant gain in biodiversity for the region over its 40-year life.

44,000 MWh per year

Preliminary work has already begun with Ethical Power’s public works subsidiary (Ethical Power Utilities) already on site. Larport Solar Farm is expected to be commissioned in 2024 and will generate approximately 44,000 MWh per year.

Conrad Energy has secured a resale agreement for green electricity generated on site through a power purchase agreement (PPA) with BNP Paribas, as announced last month. Ethical Power’s maintenance and operations team will monitor the site once in operation, ensuring optimal plant efficiency and maximizing the value of the investment for Conrad Energy.
