Harmony Energy, a company specialising in renewable energy projects, has finalised the sale of its 200 MW, 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to EDF Renewables Polska, a subsidiary of EDF Group. This sale marks a significant step in Harmony Energy’s strategy to expand its footprint in the Polish energy market. The project, which is one of the largest energy storage installations in Europe, will play a key role in stabilising Poland’s power grid, especially in the context of the country’s ongoing energy transition.

A large-scale storage project in Europe

The 200 MW / 400 MWh battery storage project is one of the largest in Europe. Located in Poland, the storage system will help balance the power supply by supporting the integration of renewable energies such as wind and solar, while addressing the gradual decline in coal usage in the country. This type of project is crucial for maintaining grid stability, as it allows for compensation of production fluctuations caused by intermittent energy sources.

A strategic sale for Harmony Energy

This transaction, in addition to marking a turning point for Harmony Energy, will enable the company to access funds to further develop its BESS project portfolio in Poland. The proceeds from the sale will be used to finance future initiatives, thereby consolidating its position in the Polish market. According to Michał Maćkowiak, Executive Director of Harmony Energy in Poland, the company plans to develop a larger renewable energy project portfolio in the country, seizing opportunities related to the ongoing energy transition.
