The battery energy storage market continues to grow in the United States, driven by the expansion of renewable energy and the need to enhance infrastructure resilience. CS Energy and Calibrant Energy have finalized a portfolio of three stand-alone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Westchester County, New York. These sites are located in the towns of Hawthorne, Yorktown, and Ossining, with respective capacities of 4.9 MW, 4.2 MW, and 4.3 MW.

Advanced Technology for Grid Stability

All three installations feature Tesla’s MegaPack2XL technology, designed to optimize energy storage and redistribution during peak consumption periods. By integrating these units into the grid, CS Energy and Calibrant Energy provide an effective solution to stabilize power supply, especially during seasonal high-demand periods.

Site selection required rigorous planning. The Highland project was integrated into St. Augustine’s church and school campus, while the Broadway project was deployed on a local parish property, and the Gomer project was built on private land adjacent to a mechanical garage. Equipment deliveries and installation phases had to be coordinated around local constraints, including school activities and community events.

Logistical Challenges in Project Deployment

Each site presented unique challenges that required close coordination between multiple stakeholders. CS Energy teams worked with Tesla, property owners, and local authorities to ensure timely installation while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The implementation of high-tension metering enclosures and advanced safety equipment enabled seamless grid interconnection.

“These projects demonstrate our ability to overcome logistical challenges and deliver impactful energy solutions,” said Vyacheslav Gofshteyn, Project Manager at CS Energy. The company, with extensive experience in energy storage projects across the Northeastern U.S., was selected for this portfolio due to its technical expertise and track record of successful project execution.

Strategic Positioning in the Energy Storage Market

The battery storage sector is becoming increasingly competitive, with operators seeking to enhance the integration of renewable energy while ensuring grid stability. CS Energy and Calibrant Energy are positioning themselves within this trend by developing infrastructures capable of meeting market demands and utility requirements.

According to John Schoeb, Head of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality at Enel X North America, CS Energy has demonstrated a rigorous approach to project execution. “Their commitment to safety and operational excellence is unparalleled,” he emphasized.

The completion of these installations marks another step in the large-scale deployment of energy storage solutions. Their integration into New York’s grid will help manage demand fluctuations and optimize the use of available energy resources.
