Enagás Renovable and VERBUND Green Hydrogen GmbH have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop green hydrogen projects in Spain.
This initiative aims to produce green hydrogen on a large scale in Spanish areas rich in wind and solar resources.
The hydrogen will be exported to the European Union via the H2Med and European Hydrogen Backbone infrastructures, operational around 2030.
VERBUND is already present in Spain, particularly in the hydroelectric sector.

Spain’s hydrogen capabilities

Thanks to its renewable energy resources, Spain is well positioned to become a leader in the production and export of green hydrogen.
That’s why the Spanish government recently approved 800 million euros in subsidies for hydrogen projects.
