Ingeteam began manufacturing 70 photovoltaic inverters for installation in the Tabernas desert in Spain this year, in partnership with Grenergy. The solar project is due to come on stream in the coming months, and will help reduce CO2 emissions by over 127,380 tonnes a year. This project adds a major achievement to Ingeteam’s portfolio in Spain, where the company has already supplied over 6GW of photovoltaic power.

Technological progress for the energy transition

Ingeteam will supply 70 photovoltaic inverters to Grenergy for the solar project in the Tabernas desert. Located in the south of Spain, this desert is famous for having hosted the filming of numerous Hollywood movies, notably westerns. With a power output of 250MW, the Tabernas project has an estimated annual production capacity of 466.6GWh. Once commissioned, the facility is expected to supply green energy to over 126,300 homes, avoiding the emission of more than 127,380 tonnes of CO2 per year.

State-of-the-art components for optimal production

Ingeteam will supply specialized, state-of-the-art components as a technology partner. More specifically, 70 INGECON SUN 3Power C series inverters will be supplied for the renewable energy plant, spread over 35 transformer stations, delivered as a turnkey solution ready for installation. The supply agreement between the two companies also includes the control system and commissioning of the equipment.

Renewed confidence and commitment to decarbonization

Ingeteam’s photovoltaic sales manager, Jesús Echarte, says:

“Playing at home is always a source of satisfaction. This new contract consolidates Grenergy’s confidence in Ingeteam as a technology partner for numerous projects. We are delighted to continue to contribute to the decarbonization of society.

Since it began operating in the photovoltaic sector 25 years ago, Ingeteam has supplied over 31GW worldwide, including 6GW in Spain. To date, the company’s technology has been used in some of the world’s largest solar power projects, in the USA, Australia, Spain, Mexico, Chile and Abu Dhabi.
