RWE commissions the 44 MWac Casa Valdes solar park near Madrid

RWE is commissioning Casa Valdes, a 44 MWac solar power plant in the province of Guadalajara, near Madrid. The installation will be able to supply 30,000 Spanish homes with electricity per year.

RWE is commissioning Casa Valdes, a 44 MWac solar power plant in the province of Guadalajara, near Madrid. The installation will be able to supply 30,000 Spanish homes with electricity per year.

Casa Valdes solar farm gets bifacial panels

For the project, RWE is installing 97,740 high-performance bifacial modules on an area of approximately 97 hectares. The bifacial cells are integrated into a double glass module, which can absorb solar radiation from both sides. This double absorption allows an increase in productivity.

The group is also using this innovative technology for its solar installations under construction in Puerta Del Sol, and Las Vaguadas. The first site is near Casa Valdes, the second is in the province of Badajoz. A total of 54 MWac are under construction on these two projects.

RWE Iberia participates in the Spanish transition

Spain is an ideal location to develop wind and solar installations. It benefits from its geographical location, its attractive outdoor conditions, and its ambitious climate objectives. The year 2022 was a milestone year in the history of the group with more than 5 billion invested in renewable energies. In addition, RWE is preparing wind and solar projects in the existing development pipeline to participate in the Concurso de Capacidad. In fact, this call for tenders from the Spanish government for access to electricity network capacity represents a future opportunity for the group.
