R.Power, a Polish solar power developer, recently commissioned a new 4.8 MWp photovoltaic farm in Serta, in the Castelo Branco district of Portugal. The facility, comprising 8,600 bifacial photovoltaic modules, is expected to generate 8.4 GWh of electricity annually, meeting the needs of over 3,300 Portuguese households. The plant covers an area of 9 hectares. The project was carried out by Nomad Electric, a Polish company, which will also be responsible for operation and maintenance via its subsidiary Nomad Electric Services. The energy produced will be marketed under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Photovoltaic expansion in Portugal

The Serta farm is R.Power’s second photovoltaic project in Portugal, following an initial 8.4 MWp installation recently connected to the grid. R.Power is currently working on six other photovoltaic projects in the country, which, once completed, will bring installed capacity to almost 70 MWp. In addition to its activities in Portugal, R.Power is also developing projects in Italy, Romania, Spain and Germany, strengthening its presence in the European solar energy market.

Growth Strategy and Future Projects

R.Power is pursuing a strategy of geographic diversification and rapid expansion, with a portfolio of photovoltaic and energy storage assets in excess of 26 GW under development. This growth is underpinned by strategic investments and partnerships aimed at increasing renewable energy production capacity in Europe. The development of these projects plays a crucial role in reducing CO2 emissions and strengthening energy security in Europe.
