The investigation concerns allegations of influence peddling and corruption linked to contracts for greenhydrogen and lithium mining, key components for battery technologies and an essential pivot in the energy transition.

The office of the Socialist Prime Minister’s chief of staff was one of the focal points of the searches. Despite the seriousness of the investigation, the Head of Government’s press office has chosen not to comment on the ongoing actions of the judicial authorities, respecting the independence of the investigators.
