Nevada is strengthening its position in renewable energy with the launch of the Escape Solar project, an initiative led by Bechtel and Estuary Power. Located in Lincoln County, this 226-megawatt (MW) project will deploy nearly 389,000 bifacial photovoltaic panels across 900 acres. These installations will provide clean energy to several major companies in the region, including MGM Resorts International, Overton Power District, Caesars Entertainment, and Wynn Las Vegas.
A Project at the Cutting Edge of Technology
The use of bifacial photovoltaic panels, capable of capturing sunlight from both sides, represents a significant technological advancement. This innovation optimizes energy production while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, a key goal in the United States’ energy transition.
Strategic Partnership and Shared Ambitions
Bechtel, a major player in infrastructure, and Estuary Power, a majority woman-owned business, have collaborated for years to develop sustainable solutions. The financial backing of Ullico Infrastructure Fund further strengthens this strategic alliance, ensuring the project’s success. According to Kelley Brown, Operations Manager at Bechtel Renewables & Clean Power, “The Escape project is a new opportunity to demonstrate our expertise in the clean energy sector.”
Jill Daniel, founder and CEO of Estuary Power, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in a competitive sector. “We chose Bechtel for its expertise in complex projects and its ability to meet deadlines while ensuring exemplary quality,” she said.
A Significant Impact for Nevada
Escape Solar is part of Nevada’s broader strategy to diversify its energy mix. Once operational, the project is expected not only to enhance local clean energy production but also to contribute to the national goal of carbon neutrality.
Scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2025, this infrastructure is also anticipated to generate significant local economic benefits while solidifying Nevada’s position as a leader in renewable energy in the United States.
