Meta and Zelestra have finalized four new Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs) for a total capacity of 595 MWac. These projects will enable the development of four solar plants in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson Counties in Texas, delivering power to the ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) grid.

A notable expansion of Zelestra’s portfolio

These new agreements build upon two solar projects signed in Indiana in 2024, which represented 210 MWac. With the addition of these four plants, Zelestra’s collaboration with Meta now totals 800 MWac. This development is part of a broader strategy for Zelestra, which currently has 6.6 GWdc of renewable energy projects under development across several U.S. states.

Meta accelerates renewable energy integration

These solar projects support Meta’s data centers, a key component of its energy operations. The company relies on partnerships like the one with Zelestra to align its energy consumption with its renewable energy commitments.

According to Urvi Parekh, Meta’s Head of Global Energy, “These solar projects reflect our commitment to powering our operations with clean, renewable energy.”

A growing market for solar energy

These developments are part of a larger trend of expanding solar capacity in the U.S. With the new Texas projects, Zelestra strengthens its strategic position in a competitive market. These agreements allow the company to add substantial solar capacity, consolidate its market presence, and meet the needs of energy-intensive companies like Meta.

The projects in Texas and Indiana also illustrate the growing trend of major tech companies entering long-term partnerships with renewable energy developers, not only to meet their environmental goals but also to secure stable and reliable energy sources.
