Jakson Engineers Limited, a subsidiary of the energy conglomerate Jakson Group, recently supplied 100 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic (PV) modules to Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL). This delivery is part of GIPCL’s 2,375 MW renewable energy park project, located near Khavda in Gujarat state.

The company delivered approximately 190,000 units of its high-efficiency PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) Helia Plus bifacial solar panels, manufactured by its Jakson Solar Modules and Cells division. These bifacial panels capture light on both sides, which increases electricity generation compared to traditional panels.

Investment in a new solar cell manufacturing plant

As part of its expansion strategy, Jakson Engineers also announced an investment of around INR 2,000 crore (approximately $240 million) to establish a 2.5 gigawatt (GW) solar cell manufacturing facility. The project will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed by December 2025.

Expansion of module production capacity

Additionally, Jakson plans to expand its solar module production capacity from 1.2 GW to 2 GW. This expansion is expected to be completed within six months of the announcement, further solidifying the company’s position in India’s solar energy market.
