Encavis AG, the wind and solar farm operator, has announced the acquisition of two construction-ready Italian solar farm projects in the Lazio region, about 100 km northwest of Rome. The two projects, Montalto di Castro and Montefiascone, will have a generating capacity of 55 MW and 38 MW respectively, bringing the company’s total solar power generation capacity in Italy to approximately 260 MW.
Encavis aims to acquire 600MW of generation capacity
According to Mario Schirru, CIO/COO of Encavis AG, the 93 MW acquisition is a good start to achieving the company’s ambitious growth goal of acquiring 600 MW of generation capacity this year. Schirru also emphasized that Italy, along with Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, are among the key markets where the company will focus all its efforts in the coming years as part of its accelerated growth strategy through 2027.
154 GWh per year for the two solar parks in Encavis
The two solar park projects come from the development pipeline of the strategic development partner Psaier.Energies in Brixen, South Tyrol. Equipped with bifacial photovoltaic modules, the two solar parks are expected to produce an average of approximately 154 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity per year. For the first time, Encavis will sell the electricity generated on the Italian market under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) based on a ten-year pay-as-you-go model.
Finally, both solar parks are planned to be managed by Encavis’ proven operations and maintenance (O&M) partner, Stern Energy SpA, based in Parma. With this acquisition, Encavis strengthens its position in the Italian solar energy market and continues its ambitious growth strategy.
