In December 2023, Axpo acquired the “Parco Molini” project from Semesteb, an Italian developer of large-scale solar systems. This ready-to-build project will be erected on non-agricultural land suitable for ground-mounted installations. The plant will be connected to the public grid, and the electricity generated will be sold via a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), currently in the process of finding a buyer.

Project details

Construction of the 20 MWp solar power plant has begun, covering an area of 16 hectares with almost 34,500 solar panels. The plant is expected to generate over 25 GWh of electricity per year, enough to power around 9,000 homes.

Local partnership

Under agreements with the local authorities, Axpo and Semesteb will build a 500 kW power plant in the same municipality to supply the local community under the ‘ComunitĂ  Energetica’ collective consumption scheme. An agreement with the municipality of Manzano was signed in April 2024 for this facility in the city’s industrial zone.

Strategy and Ambitions

Axpo, which has been active in the Italian market for over twenty years, is aiming to develop ten gigawatts of installed solar capacity in Europe. The company has already built more than 700 large-scale solar power plants and continues to provide customized energy solutions. Antoine Millioud, Head of Axpo’s Solar Division, said, “The Parco Molini project is a key step in our strategy to increase solar production capacity in Italy.” Axpo continues to expand in the solar energy sector, strengthening its presence in the Italian and European markets.
