Ameresco completes solarization of Ministry roofs

Ameresco announces the completion of its photovoltaic solar panel project on the roofs of the UK Ministry of Justice.
The project is funded by central government to the tune of £1.1 million.
It involves the installation of solar panels on the roofs of seven courts and three prisons in the British Midlands.

An effective partnership

Thecompany worked with Ministry of Justice project managers throughout the installation process.
The objective: to ensure that there would be no disruption to the daily operations of the court buildings.
And this, even in the event of an influx of traffic due to a backlog of cases as a result of the global pandemic.
Initial construction of the project began in December 2020, with completion scheduled for March 2021.
Ameresco will continue to provide 12 months of operation and maintenance, as well as ongoing network metering at the sites.

Decarbonizing federal buildings and improving grid resilience

The installation of photovoltaic solar panels will save 427,602 kWh of energy per year.
This is equivalent to a carbon saving of 106.2 tonnes per year.
In this way, the project will advance the Department of Justice’s long-term goals to decarbonize federal buildings.
What’s more, it will improve grid resilience and facilitate the renewable energy sector’s return to work.

By solarizing the roofs of the Midlands, the company is contributing to the UK’s energy transition.
What’s more, it meets the ambitions of the Ministry of Justice to decarbonize federal buildings.
