AES selects Borrego Energy for three projects in Cement City, Pullman and Letts Creek, Michigan.
The three projects have a total capacity of 72 MW.

AES builds 3 solar farms in Michigan

AES Corporation selects Borrego to design and build three large-scalesolar energy projects in Michigan.
The three projects, located in Cement City, Pullman and Letts Creek, are scheduled for completion by mid-2022.
With a combined installed capacity of 72 MW, the solar parks will feature bifacial solar modules on single-axis trackers.
Collectively, the solar power plants will generate around 104,500 MWh of electricity per year, enough to power more than 9,000 Michigan households.
The clean energy produced will offset the equivalent of 74,057 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
AES will own and operate the solar power plants, and Consumers Energy will purchase the electricity, under the terms of a long-term power purchase agreement.

“We are proud to partner with Borrego to safely build this portfolio of projects in Michigan,” said Mike Belikoff, COO of AES Clean Energy.
“Throughout the bidding process, Borrego was flexible and transparent, proactively identifying concerns, which allowed us to resolve issues before signing contracts. We look forward to working with Borrego to bring these high-impact projects to life, bringing substantial benefits to local communities, while helping Consumers Energy and the state of Michigan achieve their renewable energy goals.”

Borrego makes its mark on the US solar market

“We’re thrilled to bring our expertise to Michigan and help the state decarbonize its grid,” says Brian Barker, GM of Borrego’s utility-wide engineering, procurement and construction division.

This agreement represents Borrego’s first foray into Michigan’s growing clean energy market.
In addition, Borrego has recently won contracts to build large-scale solar and energy storage plants in Maine, Montana, South Dakota, New York and other states.
The company was named Best Solar and Storage Installer by Solar Power World magazine in its “2021 Top Solar Contractors” edition.
