International project manager Energiequelle, which has already been active in Greece for several years, has formalized its presence with the opening of a branch in Athens. This expansion is led by Polydoros Pagonis, appointed Country Manager on November 1. Under his leadership, Energiequelle has already established a strong local network, paving the way for this expansion.

Greece’s ambitious targets

Having recovered from a major economic crisis over a decade ago, Greece now boasts some of the fastest economic growth in Europe. The country has clear targets for the future: phasing out coal by 2028, reducing total greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. These initiatives make Greece a key player in Europe’s energy transition.

Energiequelle’s international expansion

Gregor Weber, Senior Vice President of Project Management at Energiequelle, expresses his pride in the company’s continued expansion. Having carefully analyzed the potential of various markets in recent years, Energiequelle has expanded its presence in three new countries since 2020 to strengthen its international operations. Weber is optimistic about the imminent achievement of the first project successes in these new countries.

The opening of the Athens branch is not only a strategic step towards accelerating the development of renewable energies in Greece, but also one that strengthens the company’s position as a leader in Europe’s energy transition. With branches now established in Germany, France, Finland, Poland, South Africa and Greece, Energiequelle is solidifying its reputation as a global player in renewable energies.
