U.S.-based Hyroad Energy has announced the expansion of its original business model, initially focused on hydrogen truck leasing, to include integrated services covering maintenance, fleet management software, and spare parts supply. This development follows the acquisition of 113 hydrogen fuel cell trucks, software platforms, and assets from Nikola Corporation during a post-bankruptcy auction.
A strategy aimed at consolidating the ecosystem
Hyroad Energy now offers a full-service solution including vehicles, refuelling infrastructure, hydrogen supply, financing, maintenance, and software. This comprehensive offer addresses the growing needs of logistics operators seeking to ensure the availability and performance of their hydrogen fleets. Former Nikola Corporation customers will also benefit from repair services and spare parts to maintain operational continuity of their vehicles.
The company aims to improve the reliability of hydrogen transport while simplifying adoption for new entrants. By integrating previously fragmented services, Hyroad seeks to increase the appeal of its model among fleet managers looking to reduce the technical and logistical risks associated with the technology.
Infrastructure and workforce expansion
The expansion of activities is accompanied by the deployment of new hydrogen refuelling stations in Texas and California. By aggregating customer demand, Hyroad intends to create economies of scale and offer competitive supply across key logistics corridors.
The company has also strengthened its workforce by hiring specialists in maintenance, software development, and engineering, including former Nikola employees. Hyroad plans to expand its physical presence in both states during Q4 2025 and Q1 2026 while continuing recruitment in operational and digital departments.
