Danish company Aegir Insights has announced the expansion of its Aegir Quant™ tool, initially dedicated to offshore wind, to include land-based renewable technologies such as onshore wind, photovoltaic solar, energy storage and hybrid assets. This development aims to provide a unified project assessment approach for value chain stakeholders, from governments to developers and suppliers.
A unified evaluation platform for renewable projects
Aegir Quant™ provides a standardised framework to instantly assess the profitability of renewable energy projects, whether onshore, offshore or hybrid. According to Aegir Insights, this expansion supports business decisions in capital allocation, asset optimisation and portfolio management by integrating high-fidelity techno-economic models and financial engineering techniques.
The tool addresses growing needs for bankability and system resilience as renewables gain ground in the global energy mix. Hybrid systems, combining wind, solar and battery storage, are emerging as a response to pressures on capture prices and grid integration challenges.
A lever for hybrid asset modelling
The platform’s expansion is based on a two-year research and development initiative, completed in 2025 in partnership with Vattenfall, Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) and Energy Cluster Denmark. The project was funded under Denmark’s Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP).
The new Aegir Quant™ capabilities enable faster evaluation of hybrid configurations and anticipation of storage’s impact on capture prices. These capabilities are considered strategic as standalone solar and wind assets face increasing exposure to market volatility.
Collaboration with European, North American and Asian markets
Aegir Insights is now working with multiple government agencies and private actors to apply the expanded solution to real-world portfolios in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. The goal is to enhance portfolio optimisation and project bankability in markets facing growing complexity.
“Our work with international partners shows how data-driven modelling can accelerate renewable deployment,” said Rikke Nørgaard, Chief Commercial Officer at Aegir Insights.
