NovaSource Power Services, a global provider of solar operations and maintenance (O&M) services, has been appointed by Equis for the long-term management of the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub. This project, developed jointly with the public entity State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SEC), is scheduled to come online before the end of the year and will feature a capacity of 600 megawatts and 1.6 gigawatt hours of storage.

Capacity and strategic role of the hub
The Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub occupies a central position within Victoria’s main electricity transmission corridors. It will support three major Renewable Energy Zones: Murray River, Western Victoria, and South Victoria. With its 1.6 GWh of storage capacity, the hub ranks among the largest batteries in the world, while enabling Victoria to target 95% renewable electricity by 2035.

As part of this partnership, NovaSource Power Services will provide comprehensive site supervision, including continuous performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, and targeted technical interventions. This approach aims to optimise energy yield and equipment availability, while ensuring long-term asset durability.

The management of NovaSource Power Services in Australia highlights the importance of performance engineering, predictive analytics, and system monitoring to ensure project reliability. According to project officials, this methodology increases the value of energy infrastructure by maintaining continuous performance.

The management of the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub marks a new stage in NovaSource Power Services’ expansion in Asia-Pacific. The company is strengthening its presence in the region by combining advanced digital solutions and field expertise to support the transformation of energy networks. The Melbourne project thus forms part of a regional trend towards the modernisation and securitisation of large-scale storage systems.
