MCF Energy Ltd. (TSXV: MCF) announced on June 4, 2025, that its Kinsau-1A well, located in Lech, Germany, has reached a key milestone in its development. The drilling site has been fully constructed and approved by the regional mining authority in Bavaria, the Bergamt Südbayern. The company stated that all long-lead items have been purchased and will be delivered to the site, while a rig contract has been signed with RED Drilling.
Drilling preparations underway
Rig mobilisation is expected to begin in the coming weeks, following the conclusion of ongoing operations in Austria. Drilling is scheduled to commence in early Q3 2025 and is expected to last for 30 days. Upon completion, testing will be conducted using a workover rig, with well results likely to be available by the end of the third quarter of 2025.
Local partnership and energy independence
MCF Energy holds a 20% stake in the Kinsau-Gas project, a natural gas initiative located in southern Bavaria. The Kinsau-1A well is expected to provide the region with another option to reduce dependence on energy imports by utilising domestic resources. Similar models are already in place at other hydrocarbon wells in the region.
Infrastructure plans for gas supply
Discussions are also underway with a local pipeline company for future pipeline construction and gas offtake. The ongoing development is part of broader efforts within the region to strengthen energy self-sufficiency.
