Base Power, a company specialising in decentralised energy solutions, has partnered with Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC), a Texas-based electric cooperative, to implement an innovative home energy storage programme. This initiative will allow BEC members to benefit from home battery systems at no initial cost, with an affordable monthly subscription fee.

Optimising the local power grid

Through this initiative, participating households will have access to energy storage systems that provide backup power during outages. These batteries, supplied by Base Power, can be charged from the grid or renewable energy sources such as solar panels. The solution aims to enhance BEC’s grid resilience by optimising consumption management and reducing the risk of grid overload during peak demand periods.

A real-time management model

A key aspect of this partnership is the use of Apolloware, an energy management platform developed by BEC. This technology allows the cooperative to monitor and manage the flow of stored energy in household batteries in real time. By aggregating these resources, BEC can not only optimise local grid performance but also participate in the energy market, providing new revenue opportunities for the cooperative.

Accessibility and flexibility for members

BEC’s energy storage programme is already available to its members. While solar system integration is not required, the battery solution can be combined with existing solar panels to maximise energy savings. Residents interested in the programme can sign up directly through BEC’s website, with detailed information on membership terms and associated costs.
