Yesterday, YILDIRIM Energy unveiled its ambitious plans for the Kosovo market at a grand ceremony in Drenas. This marks a strategic turning point in its commitment to renewable energies. This solar project, scheduled to be operational in 2027, includes the installation of 109 MGW of high-capacity solar panels. The scope of this project goes beyond simple energy production. Indeed, it is envisaged as a catalyst for improving the energy and economic infrastructure of the country, which is already engaged inother large-scale projects.

Impact and local support

The presence of personalities such as Fikrim Damka, Minister of Regional Development, and Ramiz Lladrovci, Mayor of Drenas, as well as the Turkish Ambassador to Kosovo, Sabri Tunç Angili, underlines the importance and local and international support for this project. Their presence not only legitimized the initiative, but also promised continued support, which is crucial to the project’s long-term success.

Economic and environmental benefits

The economic impact of this project is significant. It provides for the creation of many well-paid jobs. This applies not only to the construction phase, but also to the operation and maintenance of solar power plants. In addition, this project contributes directly to Kosovo’s decarbonization strategy. It aligns national targets with global initiatives to reduce carbon emissions.
