Uniper, a major player in the European energy sector, announces a strategic partnership with WAP Energia to develop an onshore wind portfolio in Poland. This collaboration encompasses six separate projects located in the west of the country, targeting a total capacity of 600 MW. These projects are part of Uniper’s ambitious goal of increasing its construction-ready renewable energy projects to ten gigawatts by 2030.

Development Strategy

Poland is a key market for Uniper, given its rapid growth potential in the renewable energies sector. By working closely with local partners such as WAP Energia, Uniper has secured a leading position in the development of wind and photovoltaic projects. This initiative will enable Uniper to significantly increase its installed capacity in renewable energies, in line with its energy transformation objectives.

Investments and Objectives

Uniper plans to invest around €8 billion between 2023 and 2030 to support growth and green transformation. A substantial part of this investment is earmarked for renewable energies, in particular solar and wind power projects. By 2030, Uniper aims to have over 80% of its production capacity CO2 emission-free, reflecting its commitment to sustainable and reliable energy production. Uniper’s strategy also includes the development of ten gigawatts of onshore wind farms and solar photovoltaic farms in key European markets. In addition to Poland, these projects are under development in Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Sweden and Hungary. The aim is to bring three gigawatts of these projects to investment maturity by 2026.

Impacts on the energy market

This strategic expansion strengthens Uniper’s position in the European renewable energy market. The partnership with WAP Energia not only diversifies Uniper’s energy portfolio, but also consolidates its presence in Poland, a strategic market for the company. These projects also contribute to achieving European energy objectives, by increasing the share of renewable energies in the energy mix.
Uniper continues to focus on developing flexible, secure energy solutions that meet the ever-changing needs of the market. Investments in renewable energies, such as onshore wind power projects in Poland, are crucial to maintaining the company’s competitiveness and supporting the European energy transition.
