The United Arab Emirates is accelerating its energy transition. They aim to be carbon neutral by 2050 by developing renewable energies or low-carbon energies. It is therefore the post-oil era that is at stake.
The United Arab Emirates at the Gastech 2022
The energy transition in the United Arab Emirates is confirmed. A delegation will be present at the Gastech 2022, which takes place from September 5 to 8. This announcement is all the more significant as it is the largest global event dedicated to gas, LNG, hydrogen and energy in general. In short, an energy transition summit.
The 50th edition will bring together nearly 38,000 delegates, including energy professionals, government ministries and CEOs from over 60 countries.
According to the UAE, the delegation will aim to share its knowledge and expertise in the fields of hydrogen, natural gas and low-carbon energy solutions.
During this event, the country’s delegation will meet with the main global players in the energy sector. This will give them an overview of the latest innovations in hydrogen and natural gas.
It is also a time for the international community to interact with the UAE delegation. This will explain to the delegation how it is using legislation, investment and research to develop new low-carbon energy technologies and solutions. An event that aims to be the summit of proposals for an effective energy transition.
A major player in the region’s energy transition
The presence of the United Arab Emirates at Gastech is all the stronger because the country is the first to have committed to carbon neutrality by 2050. This announcement reflects their desire to make their energy transition a reality.
The Emirates plan to increase its total contribution to “clean” energy from 25% to 50%. The country has also committed to reducing the carbon footprint of its electricity production by 70% by 2050.
The participation of the Ministry of Environment in events such as the Gastech as well as Dubai’s hosting of the COP 28 in 2023 confirms this forward-thinking position of the country in the region.
