Terra Innovatum Srl, a developer of micro-modular nuclear reactors, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Argentine company Conuar for the supply of critical components for the SOLO reactor production line. The agreement covers the manufacturing of fuel rods, control mechanisms, coolant plates, and special alloy components intended for industrial-scale deployment.
Conuar, with over 40 years of experience in Argentina’s nuclear sector, was selected as a strategic supplier for its ability to produce seamless tubes in specialised alloys and its adherence to international standards in complex environments. The company currently provides 100% of the nuclear fuel used by Argentina’s reactors.
Expansion of nuclear supply chain in South America
In addition to component supply, Terra Innovatum and Conuar plan to collaborate on establishing a production and assembly hub dedicated to the SOLO reactor in South America. This industrial base aims to strengthen regional production capabilities and facilitate direct access to local customers.
Pilot programmes will be conducted to assess Conuar’s technical capacities and establish pricing structures for the key components. The two companies intend to build a localised and resilient supply chain aligned with Terra Innovatum’s industrial goals for its micro-modular reactors.
Towards decentralised nuclear production
The SOLO model is designed to operate off-grid, directly at the point of use, without requiring large-scale infrastructure. This configuration primarily targets remote or energy-deficient regions, with Latin America identified as a key market by Terra Innovatum.
The agreement with Conuar represents a step towards the industrial realisation of the SOLO project, which is based on a design using existing and readily manufacturable components. The American company is pursuing a global deployment strategy relying on regional partners such as the Argentine firm.
