The Lorca project now uses Soltec‘s SFOne tracker, a single-row, dual-axis solution known for its low profile and high competitiveness. These trackers, of which there are 5,948 for the project, are specifically designed to reduce visual impact while maximizing energy efficiency, suitable for large-scale photovoltaic installations such as the one planned.

Economic and social impact of the project

Construction of the photovoltaic plant will start at the end of February, and is expected to create over 300 direct jobs during the implementation phase. Soltec wants to give priority to recruiting local workers and SMEs, underlining the company’s role in the economic development of the Murcia region. The project represents an investment of 270 million euros.

Soltec’s role in project development

As well as supplying the trackers, Soltec played a key role in the field tests and technical definition of the plant. This upstream involvement ensures that the project specifications precisely match the region’s energy and environmental needs.

Environmental commitment

Raúl Morales, CEO of Soltec, expressed how honored Soltec was to contribute to the decarbonization of the Murcian economy. He also underlines the fruitful collaboration with X-ELIO, highlighting the mutual benefits and progress towards a more sustainable future. The installation will help avoid the emission of around 148,328 tonnes of CO2 in the first year, while generating 748,000 MWh of clean energy, covering the annual needs of 215,000 homes.

In this way, the Soltec-led photovoltaic project in Lorca is contributing to the expansion of renewable energy capacity in Spain, making a positive contribution to the local economy.
