Sonnedix signs an agreement to develop a 2 MW solar power plant in Poland and accelerate its expansion in Europe. For the company, this is a key moment since the acquisition of Sun Power Energy earlier this year. The former Polish company, based in Warsaw, already had 1 GW of solar capacity installed in the country.

A first plant in Poland for Sonnedix

The Sonnedix Ciechanowiec plant will be supported by ELPRO Sp. z o o., a contractor for construction and maintenance. Thus, the solar power plant, located in Podlaskie, is expected to start production in 2023. Axel Thiemann, the company’s president and CEO, says:

“We are thrilled to begin construction of our first PV projects in Poland, just months after setting foot in the country. This is a testament to our strong commitment to continue to grow our global platform, expand the use of renewable energy and advance the energy transition.”

Single-sided monocrystalline photovoltaic solar panels will equip the plant. Currently, Sonnedix has over 7 GW of capacity. Finally, 5 GW under development will complete the company’s portfolio.

A European development

Sonnedix entered the Polish market with development projects representing approximately 700 MW of power. The company is expanding in the European energy market, particularly in Germany, France, Italy and now Poland.

Sonnedix is an independent company specializing in the production and distribution of solar energy. Its portfolio currently consists of 7 GW completed and 5 GW of solar parks still under development. However, the company is also present in the world through its presence in Chile, the United States and Japan.

Sonnedix continues to expand its global footprint in OECD countries, with nearly 400 solar plants in operation. The company also has several hundred MW under construction or in various stages of development around the world.
