Sonnedix, an international renewable energy producer, and Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable energy producer, have signed 10-year pay-as-produced (PPA) solar power purchase agreements for a new portfolio of solar projects in Italy. Sonnedix will provide Statkraft with a combined total of 48 GWh/year of green electricity, which is equivalent to avoiding more than 12,000 tons of CO2, and will provide clean electricity to more than 18,000 Italian homes.

Two solar photovoltaic plants for 34 MWp

The portfolio, which includes two solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 34 MWp, has already started construction in the Lazio region of west-central Italy. This transaction marks the second collaboration between Sonnedix and Statkraft in Italy and the third in Europe. Last July, the two companies signed PPA contracts for a solar portfolio in Italy with a total capacity of 22 MWp.

Sonnedix has been present in Italy since 2010 and currently has over 2 GW of capacity in projects in operation, under construction and under development in the country. Statkraft offers standardized PPA solutions and manages significant risks associated with the long-term purchase of electricity from renewable power plants. In addition, Statkraft develops, operates and markets hydroelectric power plants, solar farms and wind farms in many European markets, enabling it to offer tailored green energy solutions to industrial and commercial companies. In this role, Statkraft helps its business customers limit the impact of volatile electricity prices on their business, while reducing their carbon footprint and helping them achieve their sustainability and climate goals.
