Sonnedix, completes the acquisition of ARCO, one of the largest independent renewable energy producers in Chile. ARCO is seeking investment opportunities in the renewable energy generation markets in the country.
Ambitions in Chile
Sonnedix announces the completion of the acquisition of ARCO. With this purchase the company acquires a portfolio of 290MW of solar and wind power. Axel Thiemann, the company’s CEO says:
“As Sonnedix prepares for the next phase of the energy transition – providing affordable, green electricity to meet the needs of our customers – this acquisition allows us to begin hybridizing our generation profile and is the first step in our journey to become a true customer-focused, risk-balanced renewable energy solutions provider.”
Sonnedix has been in Chile for a decade and is committed to helping the country meet its renewable energy goals. Thus, the company seeks to play an active role in the country’s energy transition. Indeed, the transaction demonstrates the long-term commitment, but also the ambitions of the company in Chile.
A global presence
With this acquisition, Sonnedix enters the wind generation sector in Chile. The group has been operating as a solar IPP since 2015. With this addition, it reaches more than 1GW of total capacity in Chile, and 7.4GW globally.
Sonnedix, worldwide, currently has a total capacity of over 7GW. The company is present in France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom. In addition, it pursues its objectives in the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
