Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has concluded an agreement to deploy more than 430 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy storage capacity in Bulgaria, strengthening its presence in the European market. This project is part of the company’s strategy to offer integrated storage solutions designed to optimise investments and performance over the entire lifecycle of the system.

Deployment of technologies and energy arbitrage

The system designed by Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co., Ltd. will be responsible for absorbing low-cost electricity during off-peak periods and returning stored energy to the grid during periods of peak demand. This tariff arbitrage mechanism shortens project payback periods and improves the return on investment. The combination of a modular design, long-life batteries, and precise control of charge and discharge cycles is intended to ensure stable operation in complex environments.

The company stated that the official launch of the project took place in August 2025, with delivery scheduled for the end of December. Full commissioning and connection to the Bulgarian grid are expected in March 2026. Maintenance services and technological support will accompany the operation to ensure the system’s reliability.
