Saint-Gobain signs a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Spain’s leading energy supplier, Endesa.
A purchase agreement
Saint-Gobain announces that this agreement is for a period of 11 years and will start in 2024. It will cover about 55% of the company’s electricity needs in Spain. The electricity supplied by Endesa will be generated by its renewable portfolio.
This agreement will also reduce CO2 emissions by 39,000 tons per year. This is the second renewable energy supply agreement signed by Saint-Gobain in Spain. The two agreements cover 65% of the group’s electricity needs in Spain.
Validated objectives
In addition, the agreement is in line with Saint-Gobain’s strategy to combat climate change and its commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050. In total, Endesa will supply 150GWh of renewable energy each year. This power represents the supply of 43,000 Spanish households each year.
In addition to this agreement, the company entered into two renewable electricity supply agreements in Poland and North America. This agreement also comes after the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) endorsed the company’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
