rPlus Energies signs a PPA with PacifiCorp for 400MW of solar power with 200MW of battery storage in Utah. The project, called Green River, is the largest facility in the region.

The Green River Project

rPlus Energies, announces that the power purchase agreement should allow a 400MW photovoltaic installation. It will integrate a 200MW battery storage system. It is the largest facility in the region.

The project will allow the replacement of some plants that are reaching the end of their life. Luigi Resta, president and CEO of rPlus Energies states:

“With the Huntington and Hunter power plants coming to the end of their lives in the next ten to twenty years, the fabric of the county is changing rapidly. The Green River Energy Center continues the legacy of pioneering change and discovery in the region.”

Construction is expected to begin in early 2023.

A regional presence

The rPlus Energies project is expected to create over 400 jobs as well as multiple permanent positions. In addition, the Green River Energy Center represents an investment of approximately $750 million in Utah’s economy. The project adds to the company’s recent achievements in the region.

Indeed, rPlus Energies already has 80MW in Carbon County and 200MW in Iron County. The addition of the Green River APP brings the total capacity to over 1.2GW. Finally, the inclusion of storage will improve performance on the grid, allowing portions of generation to be stored during the day.
