Raven SR and Chart Industries sign a memorandum of understanding to facilitate carbon capture and hydrogen storage.

A complementary partnership

Raven SR and Chart Industries plan to provide the engineering equipment needed during the bio-carbon liquefaction process. The collaboration will cover every stage of the liquid gas supply chain from initial engineering to service and repair. Each of these phases requires the use of a distinct product line.

Chart Industries is a pioneer in the design of technical equipment for the clean energy and industrial gas sectors. Thus, by equipping Raven SR with its technology, it ensures a zero waste production. Indeed, it will sell liquefied CO2 as a commodity.

Matt Murdock, CEO of Raven SR states:

“By partnering with Chart Industries, Raven SR will be able to optimize clean fuel production at our facilities, strengthening both project deployment and regional fuel supply. As we expand globally, it is critical for Raven SR to collaborate with a global leader in hydrogen and carbon dioxide storage and transportation to increase energy efficiency throughout the supply chain.”

Raven SR is the inventor of the Steam/CO2Reformation technology which works by steam reforming process. It offers a second life to several types of waste such as green waste, municipal solid waste, organic waste or methane.

A green technology

In the end, the technology produces two products, hydrogen as a fuel with low or even negative carbon intensity. In addition, this method also allows the manufacture of synthetic fuels called Fischer-Tropsch. The process heats the waste at high temperature and then converts it into hydrogen and carbon.

Chart Industries’ technology allows for cryogenic capture and liquefaction of the excess CO2. In liquid form, carbon serves many industries such as food and beverage production. The technology also allows for the production of fertilizers, or the manufacture of concrete.

In addition, hydrogen production is environmentally friendly since, unlike other technologies, it does not use fresh water. Raven SR’s leaders are committed to valuing local resources and communities by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and locating production facilities closer to their customers. Finally, Raven SR wants to reduce its dependence on the electrical grid by producing its own energy on site.
