PPCR (PPC Renewables) and Mytilineos sign an agreement in principle to develop, build and sell a solar portfolio in Romania.
Two parks in the pipeline for Mytilineos
PPCR and Mytilineos state that the portfolio would include approximately 210MW in Romania. More specifically, the portfolio consists of two photovoltaic parks. In addition, both projects are expected to begin commercial operations in 2024.
The company Mytilineos is developing both projects and will also undertake the construction. These projects will be located in the southern region of Romania, near the capital, Bucharest. The larger of the two parks, called Kinisis, will have a power of 130MW.
Construction to begin in early 2023
Construction of the park is expected to begin in early 2023. Construction of an additional 80MW will occur by the first quarter of 2023. Nikos Papapetrou, executive director of Mytilineos says:
“We are delighted with this new transaction in Romania, a country that plays a strategic role for Mytilineos. The conclusion of this strategic agreement with PPCR further strengthens our presence in Romania. We were one of the first companies to invest in solar energy in Romania and are now recognized as a leading market player in the region.”
Mytilineos, listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, has a consolidated turnover of €4.5 billion. The company aims to minimize its carbon dioxide emissions by at least 30% until 2030. Finally, the company has set a goal of achieving a net zero carbon footprint in all its operations by 2050.
