In Portugal, Sonnedix acquires a portfolio of seven ground-mounted solar projects under construction or in advanced stages of development.

A major investment

In Portugal Sonnedix announces the acquisition of seven solar projects with a total capacity of 262MWp. Thus, these projects are expected to produce about 415,000MWh per year of clean electricity. The whole system will be able to supply 137,000 homes, avoiding more than 76,000 tons of CO2.

With these acquisitions, Sonnedix enters the market in Portugal. The company is thus diversifying its portfolio while strengthening its position in Europe. Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix, states:

“This achievement demonstrates our long-term commitment to the Iberian Peninsula, which is currently considered an energy powerhouse in Europe. This is a very exciting time in the industry, and we have every intention of becoming a true leader in the energy transition by expanding our presence in Portugal.”

Market diversification

Sonnedix currently has a total capacity of nearly 8GW worldwide. In addition, the company has a development pipeline of over 5GW. The company is present in Europe (France, Germany, Poland), Latin America(Chile) and the United States.

The company operates more than 180 projects totaling nearly 600MW in the Iberian market. Sonnedix has nearly 770MW under construction or in various stages of development. In addition, the company continues to expand its global presence in OECD countries.
