Biofuel: WTO Arbitrates Malaysia-EU Dispute

Malaysia is challenging the European Union’s restrictions on the use of palm oil in biofuels. The EU’s “Red II” directive is at the heart of the dispute, as it excludes palm oil from the EU’s energy targets, which Malaysia regards as a non-tariff trade barrier in breach of WTO rules.
