Neoen, the French leader in renewable energy production, has won two solar farm projects with a total capacity of 49.8 MWp in the latest governmental calls for tenders issued by the French Energy Regulation Commission (CRE).

Neoen: majority shareholder in two solar farm projects

The first project is that of shading and buildings with the shading project at the Lyon airport, for an area of 14 hectares. The second project is the Tournissan solar power plant in Occitania.

The capacity won by Neoen demonstrates its consistent ability to be among the top-ranked winners of government photovoltaic tenders in France. In accordance with its model, Neoen is the majority shareholder of the two projects won.

The shading project was developed by Neoen in partnership with SunMind, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VINCI Concessions dedicated to solar energy, and its construction will be launched in 2023 with commissioning scheduled for summer 2024.

In addition, the Tournissan photovoltaic power plant (30 MWp, Aude) in Occitania is being developed in close collaboration with the Communauté de Communes de la Région Lézignanaise, Corbières et Minervois. This plant will produce nearly 40 GWh per year, which is the equivalent of the annual consumption of about 15,000 inhabitants (including heating).

Neoen contributes to the production of green energy

Guillaume Decaen, Director of Development France at Neoen, welcomed this new success and thanked the company’s teams. He also points out that the government has announced the upcoming launch of a new call for tenders to allocate all the planned capacity, and that Neoen is preparing to represent all its projects that could not be selected during this session.

For his part, Xavier Barbaro, Chairman and CEO of Neoen, expressed his gratitude to the company’s team for this new success, which reinforces Neoen’s status as the independent leader in renewable energy in France. He also emphasized that Neoen would accelerate its efforts in the coming months in France and in its other regions to provide even more green, competitive and sovereign electricity.

With these projects, the company will contribute to the production of green energy and the fight against climate change.
