As countries around the world strive to achieve Net Zero, there is a growing urgency for governments and industry leaders to accelerate their transition to new forms of green energy. AtoZero, or “Accelerating to Net Zero,” is a new event series that brings together policymakers and change agents to thoroughly explore the pathways, policies, and business opportunities that will benefit the global climate change agenda.

The series is launched with the first AtoZero ASEAN Summit and Exhibition co-organized by Constellar and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). It will be held in conjunction with the 14th Malaysia International Eco-Responsible Products and Green Technology Exhibition and Conference (IGEM) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from October 4 to 6, 2023, where the joint opening ceremony will be presided over by Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Achieving Net Zero by 2050-2060

Under the theme “Connect, Collaborate, Accelerate,” the three-day summit will bring together energy ministers, think tanks, financiers, and industry leaders in renewable energy and green technology development from around the world to promote policy dialogue, showcase innovations, and accelerate partnerships that will enable ASEAN countries to move forward on the Net Zero path. The event will be timely in bringing together key players as countries in the region embark on ambitious journeys to achieve Net Zero by 2050-2060.

Malaysia’s climate commitment to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity relative to gross domestic product (GDP) by 45% by 2030 has led to key initiatives and achievements in decarbonization and renewable energy development, underscoring the importance of policy initiatives to support increased adoption of renewable energy and cross-border connectivity projects. AtoZero ASEAN will host more than 10 ministerial VIPs, 150 speakers, 50 exhibitors and regional sponsors, and more than 1,000 delegates are expected to attend to gain insight and access to Malaysia’s growing renewable energy and decarbonization sectors.

Strong Malaysian support

The inaugural AtoZero ASEAN Summit and Exhibition has strong support from key Malaysian stakeholders including the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC), co-organizer MGTC, as well as leaders in key sectors including renewable energy (solar, wind and energy storage), liquefied natural gas (LNG), hydrogen, carbon capture and other emerging green technologies. AtoZero ASEAN is part of the AtoZero global series of events that aims to generate policy dialogues, knowledge exchange and foster business partnerships.

Future editions are planned for India in December 2023 and China in May 2024, and Constellar will share more details soon. As the world collectively works toward a sustainable future, platforms such as the AtoZero ASEAN Summit play a critical role in accelerating the transition to Net Zero and advancing the global climate change agenda.
